Script Consulting for Feature Films and Short Films
Script consultancy is intended for writers, directors or producers who wish to take a step back from a project currently in development, writing or rewriting, and recover the momentum and creativity needed to bring it to its fullest form.
It can take place at different stages: from the treatment stage, after a first draft or later drafts, before a submission, before presenting the project to a producer, or when a screenplay seems close to its final form but some resistance remains.
The work begins with an initial conversation, to ensure that the support I offer corresponds to the project’s needs, and then to define it precisely. At this stage, I prefer not to know much more about the screenplay than its stage, genre and length. This allows me to have an authentic first reading, to measure any gap between what is read, understood and felt by the reader and the writer’s intention, and to bring to light the project’s current strengths and vulnerabilities.
Once I have received the text, we agree on a date for the consultation, usually two to four weeks later. I then read the screenplay twice. The first reading allows me to experience the story in its movement and discover its overall shape. The second enables me to analyse its components: structure, point of view, characters, dramatic progression, scenes, dialogue, rhythm, coherence and emotion.
The consultation then takes the form of an in-depth discussion based on my notes. I move with the writer from the macro to the micro, in constant dialogue, so that we can decide together on concrete avenues for rewriting.
During the session, the writer takes their own notes: this encourages a genuine ownership of the work and greater clarity when it comes to rewriting.
By the end of the consultation, the writer leaves with distance, clarity and a precise direction for the next stage of work. They know why to rewrite, what to rewrite and how.
Writing Support
Writing support extends this method over time. It can begin from the initial idea, synopsis or treatment, and accompany the project through to a completed version of the screenplay.
It is intended for writers who wish to be supported step by step, in a regular dialogue around the construction of the story, characters, point of view, rhythm and intention.
Each session is based on the project as it actually stands. The work moves forward with the text, its discoveries, its shifts and its resistances.
One-to-One Writing Workshops
Individual workshops are sessions built around your own text or idea.
This is not a theoretical course, but an active, experiential approach to learning through real material: your own. You explore screenwriting through your own project: structure, point of view, character development, dramatic progression, dialogue, rhythm and emotion.
The aim is to acquire writing tools by testing them directly within the project in progress, and to clarify your artistic position.
Other Narrative Formats
The 90pages method was born out of cinema, but it can be applied to other forms of storytelling. On request, I also support series, documentary, treatment, novel and theatre projects.
For a series, the work focuses on the concept, world-building, narrative arcs, characters, the pilot or the overall coherence of the project.
For a documentary, it helps clarify the point of view, structure and movement of the narrative.
For a novel or play, it explores construction, progression, internal tensions and emotional truth.
In French or English, in Paris or Remotely
Story structure, characters, arena and dramaturgy are all interdependent. Whatever the format or genre, I attach great importance to intention, coherence and detail, because they build truthfulness, and therefore emotion.
