Being a script consultant: insight, listening, commitment

Script consulting is not a method. There is no universal checklist, no strict rules, only different approaches, sensibilities, and paths that lead to a single goal: improving the script by offering expertise, perspective, and sensitivity.

Rhythm, tension, silence, pacing, glances, points of view, the authenticity of dialogue, sound… I come from an editing background, often called the "third writing" of a film. I understand how a film evolves through its making, and how the script remains its guiding thread through the whole process. I know what it needs, and what it doesn’t.

My approach is collaborative, holistic, and story driven. Just like when I was a film editor.

Collaborative, because the writer knows their story better than anyone, and the demands of production must also be respected

Holistic, because a script is a living thing, with its interdependent elements constantly interacting

Story driven, because it’s the story that needs to come alive (and not someone’s ego)

My work blends intuition and analysis, distance and engagement, listening and creativity for a script consulting process that is organic, precise, and professional.
